• Castellana Properties has been working for weeks on the protocols related to procedures, cleanliness and social distance to guarantee the safety of all its employees and clients
• Measures will be applied especially at the key interaction points of each centre, which include vehicle accesses and parkings, pedestrian accesses, toilets, lifts and resting areas, among many others. In total, an average of 18 points have been detected in each shopping mall
• Some of the measures are the differentiation of entrance and exit flows with vinyl tapes and signboards on doors and floors, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers in accesses, toilets and at several points of the shopping centre, footwear disinfection mats in pedestrian accesses or an increasing of the terrace space for catering establishments
Castellana Properties, specialist in the acquisition, management and rehabilitation of real estate assets in the retail sector and listed on the Alternative Stock Market (MaB), will implement more than 200 hygiene and health, social distancing and awareness measures in each of its shopping centres as soon as the relevant authorities allow their reopening. The aim of these protocols will be to ensure the highest level of health and safety for employees and customers.
In order to elaborate an ad hoc plan of action for each centre, adapted to its particular characteristics, Castellana Properties has carried out an analysis of the most important aspects to be taken into account in anticipation of possible accumulation of people, which include vehicle accesses and car parks; pedestrian accesses; toilets; breastfeeding rooms; lifts; resting and staff areas; children's areas and escalators, among others. In total, an average of 18 points have been detected in each of the centres. It is at these points where special emphasis will be placed on the application of these safety measures. In addition to these areas, different protocols, already planned, will be applied throughout each of the company's shopping centres and cleaning tasks will be intensified on all surfaces and areas.
Measures to ensure safety
The measures to be implemented include an increase in the cleaning protocol with continuous disinfections; the differentiation of entrance and exit flows with vinyl tapes and signboards on doors and floors; hydroalcoholic gel dispensers at entrances, toilets and at several points of the shopping centre; footwear disinfection mats at pedestrian accesses; placement of special bins for disposal of personal protective equipment; disinfection of breastfeeding rooms after each use; improvement of the air quality and a filtration system or increasing the terrace space for catering establishments, among many other initiatives.
Likewise, in each centre, a control of the capacity will be carried out with the installation of an automatic system, in order to comply with the regulations agreed. Specifically, in the car parks, a protocol will be established for greater ventilation, as well as the disinfection of all its surfaces and the encouragement of the use of the "click & collect" system, due to the advantages it offers at an operational level. Priority will also be given for the use of resting areas by people at risk, such as the elderly or pregnant women.
In addition, the use of masks and gloves will be recommended to all customers and employees and, in the event that they do not have these personal safety items, the centre itself will provide them to ensure safety throughout the area.
Julio García, Chief Operations Officer at Castellana Properties, states that "we have been working for several weeks on the reopening of our centres, drawing up very detailed plans to guarantee the highest level of security. For us, the most important thing is that our tenants can resume their activity as soon as possible, offering a top quality service to their clients with excellent health and hygiene measures. It is an uncertain and complicated situation, but together we will overcome it. At Castellana we reach out to all our tenants and we want to convey that we are on their side for whatever they need".
