The new infrastructure features 42 charging bays and 2,000 kW of installed capacity.

The facility offers different charging speeds to meet users' varying needs.

With this new infrastructure, El Faro is expanding the range of services available to visitors and continuing to evolve as a space tailored to the needs of its community.

Castellana Properties and ACCIONA Energía, the world's largest 100% renewable energy company with no fossil-fuel legacy, have launched Extremadura's largest EV charging station at El Faro shopping centre. Designed to meet the growth in electric mobility, the new facility has 42 charging bays with a combined capacity of 2,000 kW.

The chargers offer different power levels to accommodate users' varying needs and vehicle specifications. Specifically, the facility has four ultra-fast chargers that can charge eight vehicles in under 15 minutes, 10 chargers for 20 vehicles with charging times of between 30 and 60 minutes, and seven units for 14 vehicles with charging times of between two and four hours. Actual charging times will depend on each vehicle's specifications and charging capacity.

With this new infrastructure, El Faro is expanding the range of services available to visitors and continuing to evolve as a space tailored to the everyday needs of its community. The EV charging station also marks another step in Castellana Properties' commitment to sustainability. In recent years, the company has reduced its carbon footprint through continuous improvements in energy efficiency and the development of self-consumption solutions, while continuing to promote new initiatives focused on decarbonisation and sustainable mobility.

"This EV charging station represents another step forward in our ESG strategy and in the way we approach the active management of shopping centres. For us, sustainability is not a separate workstream; it is a criterion embedded in the operation and evolution of every asset. At El Faro, we continue to introduce solutions that help reduce emissions, enable more sustainable mobility habits and, at the same time, provide our visitors with a useful, high-quality service. This combination of environmental impact, efficiency and value for the community is what guides our decisions," says Jorge Orondo, Senior Energy & Utilities Manager at Castellana Properties.

Cutting-edge technology to ensure service satisfaction

Developed and managed by ACCIONA Energía, the facility has been designed to provide an intuitive, barrier-free user experience. Users will be able to manage charging through the ACCIONA Recarga app, where they can make payments and access exclusive promotions and benefits.

Users seeking a faster experience can also make a one-off charge without registering, starting the session from their mobile phone or paying for the service directly by bank card.

The facility is equipped with chargers made by Circutor, a leading provider of electric vehicle charging solutions known for the reliability and technological quality of its equipment.

Commitment to sustainability

Castellana Properties maintains a firm commitment to sustainability as a strategic pillar of its asset management. As set out in its latest ESG Report, the company continues to advance its Beyond ESG Boundaries strategy, integrating environmental, social and governance criteria into the investment in and operation of its shopping centres.

The company also achieved GRESB's highest five-star rating and received the EPRA BPR Gold and EPRA sBPR Gold awards. From an environmental standpoint, 100% of its shopping centres hold a BREEAM Excellent certification or higher and are managed in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. In addition, 91.7% of the electricity consumed in common areas and for climate control comes from renewable sources.
