• The retail specialist consolidates its leading market position at Europe’s most prestigious real estate awards

• The Company obtained the top award in both the category recognising accuracy and transparency in financial reporting (BPR) and in the sustainability best practices category (sBPR)

• Castellana Properties also received a special mention for being one of the Socimis in Europe to see its scores improve the most compared to last year

Castellana Properties, the listed specialist retail property company, has obtained two of the highest possible accolades at the EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association) awards ceremony. One of the two EPRA Gold Awards received was in the EPRA Best Practices Recommendations (BPR) category in recognition of accurate and transparent financial reporting, while the other was obtained in the Sustainability Best Practices (sBPR) category.

Castellana Properties also obtained a “Special mention for improvement”, a commendation given to companies that increase their previous year’s score by over 30%. The awards recognise and commend the efforts of real estate companies throughout Europe that have successfully adopted EPRA guidelines for financial and non-financial reporting.

The Company first took part in the ranking in 2019, when it obtained an EPRA BPR Silver Award, an achievement it repeated the following year in 2020, before going on to win its first EPRA BPR Gold Award in 2021, just two years after the Company was listed. This year, Castellana Properties has once again achieved the highest accolade in the financial reporting category, in which it was one of 180 companies, and it also achieved a Gold Award in the ESG sustainability category, in which 167 companies from across Europe participated – ten of which were Spanish. Among participating Spanish firms, 60% made it to the top category – a testament to the Spanish real estate and retail sector’s steadfast commitment to ESG.

For Debora Santamaría, CFO at Castellana Properties, “we are extremely proud to have achieved the Gold award once again for financial reporting and to have also achieved maximum recognition in terms of ESG. At Castellana Properties we will continue working to ensure the transparency and good practices that have become two of our hallmarks, further strengthening our market position as we do so. One of our key goals is to generate a positive impact on society both as a whole and particularly in the regions in which we operate. That is why it fills us with such great pride and pleasure to see all the effort and hard work that we have made in ESG-related matters receive such a ringing endorsement at the sector’s most prestigious awards”.
