· The Christmas lights switch-on at its six shopping centres and Parque Granaita retail park will take place on Friday 9 December, three weeks later than in recent years
· The firm continues to roll out its energy efficiency and sustainability strategy, which aims to both reduce electricity consumption and actively encourage environmental best practices
· In recognition of its steadfast commitment to the environment, Castellana Properties has obtained BREEAM certification and an EPRA Gold Award for its sustainability best practices
Castellana Properties, the listed specialist retail property company, will once again decorate its centres this coming festive season. However, this year, it has scheduled the Christmas lights switch-on at its six shopping centres and Parque Granaita retail park for 9 December, three weeks later than in recent years. In addition to this, rather than having the lights on all day throughout the festive season, some of its shopping centres will only have them on from 4:00 pm until closing – another initiative designed to help celebrate the Christmas period while continuing to uphold its environmental promise and to respect the importance of sustainability and promote greater energy efficiency.
Proof of Castellana Properties commitment to the environment can be seen in the BREEAM certification it has obtained at all of its shopping centres – the hallmark recognising excellence in the environmental management of buildings – as well as in the EPRA Gold Award that it has received for sustainability best practices (sBPR).
Sales bounce back
The Company’s shopping centres continue to outperform pre-pandemic levels. More specifically, by the end of February this year they had already outstripped pre-Covid-19 sales figures, with sales for its shopping centres between January and August this year coming in 11.1% higher than in 2019. Footfall has also been gradually making up lost ground since the start of the year, recovering 99.2% of its pre-pandemic level by the end of August.
For Cristina Macarrón, Director of Marketing at Castellana Properties, “this year we wanted to place an even stronger emphasis on our commitment to sustainability and to raising awareness of the need for everyone to do their part in caring for our planet, particularly at a time when the case for energy efficiency and using energy responsibly has never been so compelling. It fills us with great excitement to announce that our annual Christmas lights switch-on will be held on 9 December as part of an event that will include a number of initiatives for all of our clients to enjoy, ensuring our shopping centres remain dynamic go-to destinations”.
